Australian basketball unites in Melbourne for Ford BALLIN’24

Australian basketball has united in Melbourne with six of the Australian national teams set for the Ford BALLIN’ 24 Melbourne series.

ESPN will provide live, exclusive coverage of the Seven Consulting Opals and Boomers as they take on China at John Cain Arena from July 2-5. Also in action are Australia’s wheelchair basketball teams, the Ford Rollers & Gliders, and the Gangurrus 3×3 men’s and women’s teams, which will be broadcast live on Kayo Sports.

The Boomers campaign kicks off on Tuesday, July 2 – LIVE on ESPN at 7:30pm AEST. Head coach Brian Goorjian has a team of stars at his disposal, all vying for a spot in the last 12 for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Opals take to the field on Wednesday July 3rd – LIVE at 7:30pm AEST. An intriguing mix of experience and youth has been announced in a squad featuring Lauren Jackson, Isobel Borlase, Cayla George, Tess Madgen, Marianna Tolo, Darcee Garbin and Maddy Rocci.

The Australian Gliders women’s wheelchair team will open the competition on Tuesday 2 July LIVE at 12:00 on Kayo. The Gliders are taking the opportunity to introduce some new faces at BALLIN’24 alongside stars Georgia Munro-Cook and Hannah Dodd who took part in the recent IWBF Repechage in Osaka.

The Rollers open their home game on Tuesday, July 2 at 3:30 PM and welcome the return of star player Bill Latham to a team that includes champions Tristan Knowles and Shaun Norris. The BALLIN’24 series marks a crucial stage in the Rollers’ preparation towards the Paris Paralympic Games in 2024.

The Gangurrus 3×3 teams can be seen live on Kayo during the day sessions from July 2 to 5.

It provides excellent preparation for Anneli Maley and the Gangurrus women – who made history by qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in March. The men’s team brings a number of new faces alongside FIBA ​​2024 3×3 Asia Cup champions Will ‘Davo’ Hickey, Todd Blanchfield and Joshua Davey, bringing their high-octane style of play to China.
