Bull Sharks chase clean sweep as they return to The Canal | Bond University

Rugby returns to The Canal this weekend as the Bull Sharks host the Norths.

The Bull Sharks are fresh out of the break and looking for redemption after the Premier Men, Women and Colts 1 all suffered defeats to Wests before half-time.

Prime Minister Men

Tyler Campbell jumps for the ball.

Last time they met:

Rd 4, 2024 at Norths.

Bond won 19-12.

The opposition:

Norths have had some very good results recently. Although they are bottom of the table, their form is much stronger than their position gives them credit for. They have recently added some UK reinforcements to their line-up and are much stronger in personnel than the first time we played them this season.

The magnets shake:

Our line-up will see a few changes as Nathan Beal is back from injury. He returned from second grade last week and will be available for selection. We also have George Blake and Matt Gibbon back from their Super Rugby duties. Unfortunately we have lost Jack Winchester to injury which will keep him out for a few games.

One to watch:

Rhian Stowers has been very dangerous for us this season and we expect no less on Saturday. A change of position will hopefully give him a bit more grip on the ball.

The focus:

Our last game was our best physical game, we want to take that into our game against Norths, the focus will be on continuing to defend hard and make contact. Our ambition is to be able to match it with the best teams in terms of physicality.

Last word:

We usually have a lot of success against Norths, we are hoping for similar results this weekend. We hope to complete a clean sweep of all classes on Saturday, which would be our first cross-the-board wins at home this season.

Prime Minister Women

Last time they met:

Bond won 68-0.

The opposition:

We have a lot of respect for Norths, they have struggled for a few seasons and I think some of the scores don’t reflect the calibre of team they are becoming and the effort they put out on the pitch.

The magnets shake:

OOur biggest changes will be in our front row. With the recent Wallaroos selections we lose Madi Schuck and Eva Karpani. The girls are out of international duty for the next three weeks, leaving some pretty big shoes to fill.

The focus:

Our big focus is to get back on track, with two losses in a row we need to do everything we can to get our momentum back towards the end of the season.

The last word:

It’s back to basics for us. A win is crucial to get back on track.

Foals 1

The last time she mand:

Bond won 40-38.

The opposition:

Norths have won their last three games and are developing well as the league progresses. They have a very strong and powerful front row that we have to fight against.

The magnets are shaking:

Our only change this weekend is Zeb Misios replacing Joe Murray, Zeb returns to our team after his last few games with the Premier Lads, unfortunately we are without Murray for the rest of the season with a knee injury, this is quite a big loss for us but we have good players available in Jack Tee and Will Carter.

Things to keep an eye on:

Fergus Gillan brings many skills to the team; he is one to watch this weekend. We expect a big race from him in Lock, alongside the ever consistent force Oliver Barret.

The focus:

This week our main focus is on our discipline. We have let ourselves down in this area in the last few games. If we get this right and stay consistent in both halves it will be a tough day for Norths.

The last word:

This match is decisive for us. We have show a lot of promise, but have not yet fully lived up to what we can do. I am very curious to see what the boys will show on the field on Saturday.
