After their last confrontation, undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has spoken about a possible match with The Rock.

On night one of WrestleMania 40, The Rock and Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, with Rock pinning Rhodes.

Cody then defeated Reigns to “finally finish his story” and win the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 40 Night Two.

The following night on Raw After WrestleMania, Rhodes and “The Final Boss” had an in-ring confrontation, setting up a potential one-on-one showdown.

Cody Rhodes spoke to The Pivot Podcast about his desire to wrestle The Rock within the year. He said:

“The Rock told me he’d see me when he got back. My head’s been spinning every day since the day after WrestleMania, for the Final Boss, as the Rock is now called, for when his music starts. I’ll be in the same place I was then and I’ll be ready for him.”

“If he performs anything like he did at WrestleMania, he’ll be like, ‘Oh, I’m finally done, I’ve been so busy.’ That guy went to three months of training camp, he was ready, so I’ll be ready.”

“If I can give you an estimate, I hope it happens next year.”

Cody Rhodes also responded to other fan questions about whether he would act “whole.” You can read the interview here.

Rhodes will team with Randy Orton and Kevin Owens to take on The Bloodline in a six-man tag team match on Saturday, July 6 at WWE Money In The Bank.
