Khabib Nurmagomedov’s bank accounts frozen by Russia

UFC legend’s bank accounts frozen by Russian authorities over £2.4m tax debts

Retired UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov’s bank accounts have reportedly been frozen by Russian tax authorities due to significant tax debts.

The 35-year-old, who retired undefeated in October 2020 with a 29-0 record after a second-round submission win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, is said to owe more than £2.4 million ($3 million) in taxes.

Reports suggest that the former UFC champion is active in various business ventures after his retirement.

However, these ventures appear to have been less successful than his fighting career, leading to his current financial problems.

The troubles were compounded when police in Russia’s Dagestan region recently raided a fight club linked to his late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, as part of an investigation into suspected supporters of a terrorist cell.

Despite these controversies, rumors persist regarding a possible return of Khabib to the Octagon.

It was rumored that he could make a comeback for UFC 300 after the sport’s top officials contacted him.

However, Khabib continues to stick to his retirement.

“I told Ali (his manager), it doesn’t matter who calls you, but don’t ever call me about a fight,” he told MMA Junkie.

As Khabib struggles with these financial and personal challenges, the MMA world is watching closely, wondering if the undefeated champion will ever step into the ring again.
