Kumar, 58, wins Ba golf title

Ravendra Kumar won the overall net profit in the first round of the Vikrant Chandra sponsored Ba Golf Club Medal event.

Kumar, 58, shot a net total of 67 and also picked up the Nearest Pin (NTP) award. Kumar, who has been a member of Ba Golf Club since 1984, believes his experience enabled him to outperform the other 19 golfers who took part in the FSC Golf Course yesterday.

“I am familiar with this course and my technique was to relax and be aware of the wind direction.

“There were other young golfers, but I think it was my experience that helped me move forward,” Kumar said.

For Kumar, living near the FSC site was an added advantage, as he only had to walk two minutes to the track for training and back home.

In other results, Ashwin Sharma won the total gross amount with a score of 77. The employee of the Sugar Research Institute of Fiji was pleased with the outcome.

“I am happy with the result. The competition from other golfers was tough but I persevered,” said Sharma.

In other results, Asish Chand won the A class, while Indra Warjan settled for second place. In the B class, Samisoni Mara finished first, while Damon Chen finished second.

Pradesh Chandra won the C class and Prakrit Naidu finished second.

Rohit Chandra won the award for the longest ride.
