January 11, 1942 – June 29, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lyle Gordon Davis Sr. on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice, surrounded by his family.
Lyle, a retiree from Ontario Northland, was proud of his 34 years of dedicated service. During his time with ONR, he served as president of the local union; and also with the Employee Assistance Program prior to his retirement. Lyle left a lasting impression on his coworkers; he is known for his friendly demeanor and dedication to helping others.
With his passion for the sport of hockey, he could often be found at West Ferris Arena. He enjoyed coaching, watching games, volunteering, or sharpening skates. He felt it was important to be a part of his local community. He was honored with a Life Membership in West Ferris Minor Hockey for his contributions. Lyle was also a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leaf and enjoyed playing at the junior level and recreationally as a goalie. His passion for hockey was matched only by the joy he found in sharing it with his family and friends.
Lyle was known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor and could brighten up any room with his jokes and playful spirit. He was a social butterfly and was always ready to listen to those who needed a friendly ear. His laugh and good-natured banter will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Lyle was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing and boating. He loved being outdoors and was known to spend many summers in Mikisew and along the South River with his family.
Lyle is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Margaret, their children Lyle Jr. (deceased), Cheryl (Rob), and Greg (Julie); and beloved grandchildren: Chantal (Garnet), Eric, Tyler, Katie, and Casson.
In accordance with his personal wishes, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you register and become a blood donor at Canadian Blood Services. If you wish, you may also make a donation to Nipissing Serenity Hospice in memory of Lyle Davis Sr.
