Sligo Rovers DS Futsal Team celebrated their recent success at Showgrounds

The Sligo Rovers DS Futsal team received a fantastic welcome at the Showgrounds on Friday 28th June when the team were guests of the club for the match against Shamrock Rovers.

This was in recognition of their line-up and performances during a recent blitz. The players were introduced to the crowd at half-time and enjoyed refreshments in the clubhouse beforehand, where they met Rovers chairman Tommy Higgins, Rovers legends Eoin Doyle and Danny Ventre and Benny The Bull.

The team was founded as part of the club’s series of Football Social Responsibility (FSR) programmes.

Jamie Murphy, Sligo Rovers FSR Officer, said: “It was a fantastic night for everyone involved with the DS team. The club as a whole on what was an emotional night. The players have shown a huge amount of dedication and effort since the team was formed and it is fantastic that this was recognised by all the supporters last night.

“All the players have represented the club with such distinction and the support from the player families and club volunteers has been brilliant.”
