Tourist car crash in Granma leaves woman in critical condition

A woman is in critical condition after a serious accident with a tourist car in Grandmaaccording to reports circulating on social media. The incident took place Tuesday morning along a stretch of the Jiguaní-Baire Highwayas detailed in a post from the Facebook group “ACCIDENTES BUSES & CAMIONES, for more experience and small victims.”

The user explained that the tourist car was trying to overtake a truck and collided with a bicycle being ridden by a woman, who is now in critical condition. The post says that the driver of the vehicle swerved several times, hit a wall and eventually knocked over a power pole.

Online users expressed their outrage and criticized drivers who drive too fast, a behavior that is especially common among visitors who rent tourist cars on the island. “This happened due to reckless haste. If he had waited for the bike to pass before overtaking the truck, nothing would have happened. Now he has ruined the life of the cyclist,” said one group member. “Those rental cars go at breakneck speeds… they are involved in many accidents… speedy recovery to the cyclist!!!” added another.
